Landscape Painting
(Ages 15 through adult, Outdoors, 9 weeks)

Students will explore plein-air painting as well as nature-inspired studio work, and will also work directly in nature to influence individual creativity. Please bring a portable easel and painting materials. The first class meets at the Art Association.

Basic Oil Painting

(Ages 15 through adult, AAH Third Floor, 9 weeks)


For students who want to learn basic oil painting techniques, this class starts with the initial drawing and works up to the finished product. Color mixing and varied use of media are included in the lesson plan. This class is designed for both the beginner and those who paint casually, with still-life & landscape as subjects.

Open Studio Painting
(Ages 15 through adult, Reservoir Park Multi=Purpose Studio, 9 weeks)


An open studio for practicing painters working in any style including abstract, semi-abstract or representational. Artists may work in any medium. No instruction will be given. Group critiques will be held at the descretion of the group for those wishing to participate. All registrants must be members of the Art Association. Artist membership starts at $40 annually and must be paid for with a separate check. 8 students maximum.

Watercolor
(Ages 15 through adult, AAH Lower Level, 9 weeks)


Students will receive basic watercolor technique instruction, including paper and color selection, sketching, the importance of design and drawing, washes, handling of color and how to be in control of the medium. Students will work from still lifes, sketches and photos. Demonstrations will also be included.

Collage
(Ages 15 through adult, AAH Lower Level, 8 weeks)


Collage is creative, challenging and fun! It’s easy to get started and is geared for all levels of expertise. You’ll learn collage basics and how to combine watercolors or acrylics with collage. Strong emphasis will be placed on the fundamental principles of design, composition, line, rhythm, texture and color---subjects may include landscapes, flowers, seascapes, abstracts and more. You’ll even learn to hand-paint your own paper!

Each class will start with a demonstration and end with a critique, including guidance from the instructor. Please request a supply list at the time of registering. An additional $12 supply fee will be added to the class cost and payable to the instructor during the first session. She will supply everything you need to make this a great experience.

Basic Acrylic Painting
(Ages 15 through adult, AAH Third Floor, 9 weeks)


This course will instruct students in the basic techniques of acrylic painting on canvas, using still-life arrangements and clothed figure models as subject matter. Call the AAH for a supply list before the first class!

Depicting Wildlife & Domestic Animals

(Ages 15 through adult, AAH Lower Level, 12 weeks)


Plants, animals, insects, fish, fowl and reptiles...using these as subject matter, students will learn about improving composition, drawing and color. Students will be able to work in the medium of their choice.
