Exhibition Space: A gracious Italianate brownstone with five galleries offering shows of national, international , and regional artists’ works in an eclectic melange of styles and media, as well as a Sales Gallery and art classes for children and adults.
Current Exhibition: “Animal Kingdom,” AAH Fall Membership Exhibition sponsored by SummerArt, featuring depictions of animals by human artists, and abstract paintings by the dog and cat artists of PAWS.(On view through Oct. 13).

2. JOHN HARRIS/SIMON CAMERON MANSION
The Historical Society of Dauphin County/219 S. Front Street
Exhibition Space: The preserved home of both Harrisburg’s founder and Simon Cameron, who served on Lincoln’s Cabinet.
Current Exhibition: Once again the “Capucines” artist group will mount an exhibit of their many myriad talents. Additionally, the artists have spent time in the Mansion selecting and photographing many of the artifacts in order to create paintings of the items for the exhibition. Also on view will be a display on the life and times of historic Dauphin County and Harrisburg.

6. WHITAKER CENTER FOR SCIENCE & THE ARTS

Exhibition Space: Lobby walls on Street and Arcade levels, near the Grand Staircase. “Science through the Arts” comes alive in virtuoso style throughout the architecturally-impressive Center, with the IMAX Theatre, Sunoco Theatre, and Harsco Science Center. Visual arts are displayed on a rotating basis.
Current Exhibition: New York’s optical-illusion-installation artist Devorah Sperber’s work will be on view through November 4, utilizing the scientific tools of the masters to delve into the world of illusions. Through her work she explores the devices, tricks of the illusional trade, and magnifies certain artists’ works within her own.
Activities: Selections from the Harsco Science Center’s “Optical Illusion or just the Optimal Solution” and “The Eyes Have It!” interactive exhibits will be on display in the lobbies free of charge. While delighting at Devorah’s visual creations, attendees can try their eyes on some of the Center’s anamorphic images, and then try their hands as they learn how to make their own...fun for the entire family! Current Exhibit: In the Atrium, “Art for the People” presents the “Art Is Freedom Bazaar,” a co-op gathering of area emerging artists displaying their diverse works and offring individual demonstrations. In the Storefront, an “Emerging Artists Merging” group exhibit featuring inspired works in a variety of media.

Exhibition Space: 1890’s townhouse exhibiting local resident artists and featuring monthly guest artists.

Exhibition Space: An intimate Midtown restaurant featuring fine Italian cuisine and exhibitions by regional artists on a rotating basis.
Current Exhibit: “Revealed/Veiled” series by Ellen Slupe, on view through November 13. Out of organization comes life, through the geometric parameters set, an organic form grows atop, covering and leaving only glimpses of the scaffolding that created and supports it. Slupe’s work is derivative of the years she spent in the science and engineering fields.

Current Exhibit: “Our Voices: Refugee and Immigrant Women Tell Their Stories,” featuring artistic black-and-white photographs by Catherine Wert illustrating stories of courage, motherhood and acculturation by 23 women from around the world, who have made central PA their home. Exhibition Space: Overlooking the Capitol from the quiet hills of historic Schreinerstown, Bridges Gallery is in a 3-story brick house located just off Herr Street, between the Harrisburg Cemetery and the Harrisburg Armory.

Exhibit: In a departure for Gallery Walk, the Friends of Midtown, the Midtown Square Action Council, and the Harrisburg Young Professionals present Earl Blust, Robert Hughes, David Henry, Steve Wetzel and other talented area artists painting the Midtown District.
Activities: Enjoy these plein air artists practicing their art on the sidewalks of the “arts-friendly” neighborhood. Buy a work right off the easel, or commission a work of your own.
Future Exhibition: The works created Gallery Walk day will be gathered together for an exhibition in two weeks at a gallery in Midtown. (Ask the artists for the exact location.)

28. THE GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE
Exhibition Space: Home to Governor and Mrs. Edward G.Rendell, the Governor’s Residence is a two-and-a-half story brick home built in the Georgian style. Gallery Walk visitors are invited to view the artwork on display in the State Rooms at the South end of the Residence.
Current Exhibit: “Picturing Pennsylvania:Architecture in the State Landscape.” The exhibit presents a broad range of styles and subject matter that showcase the nuances of architecture portrayed in the landscape paintings of our Commonwealth.
