“The process of working with oil paint and cold wax is simple, but not easy. I find each piece to be a challenge; it’s a balance between control and a complete surrender to chance. I build up layers and scrape back to previous layers, dissolving into earlier moments in time. Making marks by scratching through the surface with a variety of tools adds texture to each layer. I may work on a painting for several weeks or months, allowing each piece a chance to choose its own path. Then, one day my heart leaps a little, I fall in love and I know my piece is complete.”
