“PASTICHE AND THE PRESENT”

Synopsis: This special show features the work of artist Dylan Berger, who specializes in graphite master studies. His pieces capture the measured discipline of drawing classical paintings along with the freedom and flexibility of new media. To contact the artist: dylanberger99@gmail.com.

“COLOR AND CONTOUR”
Dates: April 1 – June 26 (2nd Floor Rear Gallery)
Synopsis: This year marks the centennial of the Art Association of Harrisburg. To celebrate this milestone, we present a special exhibition, Color and Contour, featuring an exceptional collection of works by artists from our permanent collection, including Charles “Li” Hidley, Sam Terr, Dick Elliott, Helen Sue Musser, Barry Cohen, Edith Socolow, and Ivan Cairole. Each artist offers a vivid and distinctive interpretation of abstraction straying away from conventionality and instead focusing on dynamic gestures and open fields of color.
This exhibition also highlights how the organization continues to build its collection. Many works have been generously donated by the artists themselves, or by collectors such as Thomas Menaker, Barbara Sherman, Constance Bramson, and Reed Hamilton.

“VIVID EXPERIENCES”
Dates: April 10 – May 14
Opening Reception: April 17 (5 – 8pm)
Synopsis: Vivid Experiences showcases a dynamic selection of artwork by artists Steve Barber and Earle Rock placing them in a colorful two-fold world. Barber’s approach to painting relies on his own design, sense, and imagination, disregarding the rigid rules of painting. Earle Rock uses both sculpture and painting to explore the relationships we have with those larger than life and the unique feelings and sensations that arise within a life event.
